Let’s face it – we can’t glow without our amazing volunteers! All those cheery people you see in the park wearing the bright ATCO safety vests have volunteered their time to make your experience at this year’s Festival a wonderful one. Some of our volunteers belong to groups who come out to raise funds for their nonprofit organizations, and to just have fun. Over the past 15 years, the Airdrie Festival of Lights Society has paid out an estimated $200,000 to other local organizations raising funds for their
own projects or goals.
Thanks to our friends and long time sponsor ATCO GAS, we are pleased to give our volunteers new safety vests. These vests make it easy for you to identify more than twenty volunteers in the park each night; whether they are serving hot chocolate, driving the trains, keeping the fires warm, or keeping the lights at their brightest.
Did you know it takes almost 5,000 volunteer hours to bring the Festival to life? And not just during the Festival; there are volunteers needed to fix equipment and displays, to help with the set up and take down, planning, coordinating, public relations, sponsorship sales and so much more. It’s an incredible undertaking for so many, but many hands make work light (pun intended!). So please, if you think the Festival is a bright idea – why not join us? It will make you glow inside and out. E-mail us at volunteer.afol@gmail.com or stop by the ATCO Volunteer Headquarters and say hello!
Since our beginnings, ATCO has been an active, responsible contributor to the communities where we work and live. Supporting events such as the Airdrie Festival of Lights is important to ATCO’s people because it promotes collaboration, community and celebration.
We also value the importance of recognizing the people who help make these community events seem effortless – our volunteers – and ATCO is pleased to be the Volunteer Sponsor for 2010.
Volunteers donate their time and energy to create an experience that radiates in the hearts of the whole community. With their commitment, the Airdrie Festival of Lights shines more brightly!
